Whilst there is no denying the benefits of modern medicine, one has only to see how lives can be saved and transformed due to the advances in science and technology in the last few decades, there is also growing concern about its harmful effects. Infact healthcare itself is now the eighth leading cause of death, according to the Institute of Medicine’s seminal report in the USA.

The situation in India is considered worse for many reasons and together with other colleagues we have recently described our views in an editorial in the National Medical Journal.
